November conference 2012

Last November, NELDA held a conference on ‘Dyslexia Friendly is Ofsted Friendly’. Neil MacKay, a nationally renowned and highly respected speaker in the field of Dyslexia , held a captive audience consisting mostly from the teaching profession, for a full day.

Neil created the concept of Dyslexia Friendly Schools and his training session promoted a theme of the whole school approach. The day proved to be both lively and entertaining with many opportunities for teachers and teaching assistants to reflect and incorporate new strategies into their practice. Feedback from the day was very positive with reports back from some delegates that new methods had been put into place already with successful results.
